It starts with the seed

At Les Verts, we work with North America’s leading seed suppliers to access the newest and best varieties for our indoor farm. After screening dozens of lettuce varieties in our research facility, we have selected the brightest and boldest flavors and the strongest performers for our growing environment. Each seed is hand-planted, and after spending its early days in the germination area, only the strongest seedlings are transplanted and moved to our main growing system.

Indoor growing with enhanced natural systems

We use enhanced natural systems to grow our gourmet greens indoors year-round bringing customers artisanal, home-grown lettuce throughout the year. At Les Verts, we grow with energy-efficient LED lights and use only the highest quality water and plant nutrients. Lights, nutrients and temperatures are monitored daily to ensure optimal production. Because of our innovative watering system, our farm uses only half the fertilizer and one-tenth of the water needed to produce a head of lettuce in the field. In addition, we are a spray-free facility - we do not use any pesticides in the production of our greens.

Hand picked at the peak of performance

Once our living lettuce reaches its peak of flavor and texture, we hand pick each plant – leaving the root system intact – and provide a living lettuce plant to our customers within mere hours of the plant leaving our growing system. With minimal transportation, reduced packaging, pesticide-free growing and the extended shelf-life that our living-greens deliver, we are very proud of our “greener greens” and sustainable production practices.
